Whilst we benefit from a delightful secluded location in 240 acres of private grounds, Ardanaiseig is an ideal base from which to explore the many historic, scenic and cultural treasures of Argyll. With Oban and the Islands to West, Inverary to the South, Crianlarich to the East and Fort William to the North, and a wealth of tourist attractions in between, visitors to Ardanaiseig are never short of things to do. Below are just a few suggestions.
Scenic and historic sites of interest:
• Ardchattan Priory
Auchindrain Township Open Air Museum, by Inveraray
Bonawe Iron Furnace, Taynuilt
Castle Stalker, Loch Linnhe
Cruachan Reservoir & Hollow Mountain Power Station
Fort William – site of Ben Nevis, Inverlochy Castle and the Jacobite (Harry Potter) Steam Train
Glencoe village & Visitor Centre
Inveraray - with its Castle and Jail
James of the Glen Monument, by Ballachulish
Oban - the Gateway to the Isles and home of Oban Whisky
Torosay Castle and Gardens, Craignure, Isle of Mull
Whether you choose to visit the local sites independently, or in the company of our touring partner Lord Andrew Gray, a trip to the mysterious Kilchurn Castle on Loch Awe (pictured) is highly recommended. It is particularly magical to approach the castle by steam boat from Lochawe pier.
In a magnificent baronial-style mansion, Ardanaiseig Hotel offers 240 acres of wooded grounds, a restaurant and elegant rooms. The hotel is situated in Kilchrenan, on the banks of Loch Awe.
With a contemporary menu created by 2011 Scottish Chef of the Year, Gary Goldie, the restaurant also enjoys views of the loch. Guests can also sample afternoon teas or take a picnic to the private island.
The sumptuous bedrooms are individually decorated with antique furniture, rich fabrics and unique feature beds. All rooms have a luxury bathroom with designer toiletries, a seating area and scenic views.
The listed building boasts original Victorian features and log fires throughout. The drawing room has a grand piano, whilst the library bar stocks fine whiskies. Guests can also play snooker in the games room.
Surrounded by beautiful Argyll countryside, Ardanaiseig Hotel is a 40-minute drive from Oban, where ferries to the Isle of Mull can be caught. Free Taynuilt Rail Station transfers are also available.

|Обратите внимание||Wild deer have been hunted for sport and food in Scotland for hundreds of years. Today, deer populations are carefully managed to prevent damage to forestry and wildlife. The objective is to cull the oldest and weakest deer rather than to hunt for trophy heads.|
Guests at Ardanaiseig not only enjoy fresh, local, wild venison in the restaurant, but can also play a part in the deer management process. If you are interested in deer stalking as part of your stay, please contact us in advance so that we can make all the necessary arrangements with the Ghillie.
